Skylights

Not all houses have skylights, but for those who are thinking about installing one, there are a few things you should consider.

A skylight is essentially a window set in the roof. They can be fixed, which means they do not open, or they can be operable The skylight frame must withstand all weather conditions, and the flashing must work with the roofing material to seal out wind, rain, and snow.

Properly installed skylights are a nice addition to a top story room. They add brightness, reducing the need for artificial lights and potentially lowering your electrical bill, and also make a room appear larger.
